'Superman Returns' Premiere!

Today was suppose to be a relaxing, none exciting day… that was until I got into Leicester Square and got lost in the middle of the ‘Superman Returns’ premiere! Initially I just planned to meet up Shirin to talk about how we will sort out the finer details about our campaign.

The sun was out, loads of nutters surrounded us so we entered into the spirit of things and cheekily asked one of the Police Officers (Graham) whether there is a place reserved for wheelchair users. Graham took a leisurely strolled along the barriers towards his Sergeant… ok, we weren’t expecting anything, in fact we thought we might be told to get on our bikes, but what happened was, we were escorted through the barriers and onto the red carpet!!! We stood outside the entrance of the Odeon between the paparazzi and the big stars themselves! Shirin and I were laughing that the paparazzi must have been cursing us, standing there blocking their view.

Must say, Shirin and I was a bit overwhelmed as we only came out for sushi (yes we can’t get enough of the stuff!) and was not ready for all the stars walking by… saying that after the whole ordeal we bumped into a very lovely lady, Rhoda who has promised to email the photos she took of the stars. I will post them up as soon as she emails them to me – so fingers cross everyone ;-)

We managed to get 2 posters (one was about A1 size and the other was over 5 foot!) from the premiere, and was given permission to sell the posters on eBay to raise funds for our jump… however, the posters were so big and heavy we thought we will try to sell them right there outside Leicester Square! Our first buyer was a really friendly guy called Danny, and this is him with his friend, Abby. Our big poster was then sold to a bunch of guys (Stephen, Garry, Lily, Owen, Perry, Tak, Stephanie and Annie) from Birmingham… not sure how they will take it all the way back home – good luck guys and get in touch to tell us about it! Oh yes, the posters went for £5 each!

Have to mention Sarah who is also a fellow BHF member who donated a £1.

Thank you everyone for taking the heavy posters off our hand and donating to a worthy cause!

Helen

PS. miss maco this is just for you: ‘ice cream’, ‘cake’ and ‘fish’ (because there was no sign for ‘sushi’ or ‘raw’ in my book)

Have you tried Ben & Jerry's 'Phish Food' ice cream?! Two out of 3 isn't bad ;-)
